Dayton Ohio foreclosures down 14-percent
Foreclosure filings in the Dayton area decreased more than 14 percent in 2009
There were 7,914 properties with foreclosure filings in the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area last year, down from 9,231 in 2008, according to RealtyTrac.
The filings, which include default notices, scheduled foreclosure auctions and bank repossessions, are tracked by Irvine, Calif.-based RealtyTrac. The company compiles and sells foreclosure data.
Montgomery County saw the most improvement in the area, with the number of filings dropping more than 19 percent. Last year, there were 6,100 foreclosure filings in the county. In 2008, there were 7,549.
Not every county saw a decrease in filings. In fact, many saw significant increases.
The filings for 2009 by Ohio county were as follows:
• Butler County: 4,249, up 20.3 percent from 3,532 in 2008;
• Warren County: 1,635, up 4.9 percent from 1,558 in 2008;
• Clark County: 1,431, down 5.8 percent from 1,519 in 2008;
• Greene County: 852, down 9.4 percent from 940 in 2008;
• Miami County: 691, up 34.4 percent from 514 in 2008;
• Shelby County: 302, up 28 percent from 236 in 2008;
• Preble County: 271, up 18.9 percent from 228 in 2008; and
• Darke County: 200, down 17.4 percent from 242 in 2008.
